3D icon animation

Something like this would make a good alternative to the static icons we see on smartphones. Animation should be incorporated in the handheld OS icons – even if its only after you tap the icon. Animated GIFs serve as nice logo replacement or a subtle hint of life on any device – also creates visual competition. In practice it would be good to set a standard or specifications for timing to keep the screen from exploding. For my website, I wanted to create something that encompasses what I do – as well as my interest for augmentation and virtual reality. – 196kb is worth it – 96 frames at 30fps
Original animation was crafted in Autodesk Maya with Mental Ray.
